本日、11月28日の19:30から上智大学の留学生に英語で講演してまいります。講演のテーマは日本での就職活動であり、元留学生として、そしてグローバル愛知の事務局として経験談を交えながら説明します。留学生にとって日本で就職活動について英語で学ぶ機会が極めて少なく、より馴染みのある言語で学習できることが就活のハードルを下げると言われます。

Tonight, Nov. 28, we are scheduled to deliver a lecture at Sofia University in Tokyo. The topic of the lecture is job hunting in Japan, and will focus on Global Aichi general manager Elliot Conti’s experiences as a former international student. For international students, opportunities to learn about job hunting in English are few and far between; merely presenting the content in English lowers the barriers of entry considerably.

このような就活セミナーは、上智大学はもちろんのこと、南山大学、名古屋芸術大学や東京福祉大学など、様々な教育機関でやってまいりました。在学中の留学生にとって、成功事例だけでなく、失敗事例やありがちな問題を聞くことが貴重な勉強になると思っております。また、英語で行うことにより、多くの留学生を巻き込むことができ、多様な就職支援を提供できるようになります。素晴らしい取り組みに携われせていただき、上智大学の皆様に深く感謝します。

We have given lectures similar to this at Nanzan University, Nagoya University of Arts and other educational institutions around Aichi Prefecture. However, I am extremely impressed by universities like Sofia – which have gone the extra mile to provide employment support in English – and am honored to give this lecture.
